The summer has reached its peak and soon the grapes in the vineyards of Vihucas will be ready for harvesting. A cooler and more humid spring and the intense summer sun in La Mancha are the perfect conditions for a promising harvest.

The grapes of the Malvar variety are strong and healthy. It will be the first time, that Vihucas harvests Malvar-grapes, a long expected moment since the grapevines were planted in 2011. Malvar is a spanish white wine variety which was in danger of extinction in the region of La Mancha. Vihucas helps to preserve this interesting cultivar.

Not just the white varieties grow and prosper, also the red ones are in perfect conditions. The picture shows that some oft the grapes already started the veraison. The term means the onset of ripening and is an indicator that the countdown for the harvest has started.
